Some of you have asked who I am,  and what I looked like.  Well my name is John Lorence son of Ted Lorence who served on the Greenwood.  I am the GRUNT (Ground reinforcement usually not trained) on the Left.  The other question I get is why did you not join the Navy Like your Dad?  Well,  I get Sea sick in the bath Tub!! There is no way I could have survived aboard a little Tin Can like you.  And any ways once the shooting starts there is no where to hide on board a ship!  At least I can head for the nearest hole in the ground, or seek out the fattest tree in a hurry!!  I served all over the Pacific in the 2nd Infantry Div.  Korea.  25th Infantry Div.  Hawaii.  I might not have been out there the same time you were,  but we sure chewed some of the same dirt,  Uh,  water.

I pray our service was enough, that my sons will not have to see what there father and grandfathers have seen.   John Lorence  26 May 2000.
