USS Case DD370
Gerald Busz WT1c was a colorful, and respected member of the USS Greenwood. During the time of the Destroyer Escort fitting out period. Seasoned combat veterans from other ships were transferred over to the DE's, that were by late 1943 coming down the slips fast and furious. These combat vets were expected to get the mostly green DE crews fresh out of school, up to peak efficiency in the short period they had from builder to combat zone. WT1c Busz was one of these men, a Pearl Harbor survivor, and Aleutian campaign Vet. Shipping over to the USS Greenwood from the USS Case DD370. Below are some memories of Gerald Busz and his first Ship the USS Case, graciously submitted by his son David Busz.

Gerald Busz, (stuffing the mans head in the bucked) being only one of the few veterans aboard the Greenwood already a Shell back. He got to initiate the rest of the crew! Most said he enjoyed it to much!!!
